Letters Of Map Change
Several methods of appeal are available to refute floodplain determinations for both structures and
property. These appeals include removal of qualifying existing structures and property (LOMA), and
Proposed development projects.
- Letter of Map Amendment - LOMA
Removes the structure and /or property from FEMA's designated floodplain and the mandatory flood
insurance purchase requirement based on existing ground elevation.
- Letters of Map Revision - LOMR
Removes the structure and/or property from FEMA's designated floodplain and the mandatory flood
insurance purchase requirement based upon a change to the hydrology, hydraulics or placement of fill.
Post FIRM Compliance Review/ Mitigation
Often, Projects and structures are not constructed in compliance with the mandated floodplain
